The spellbinding effect of MAGIC, Las Vegas
Our team had the opportunity of attending the MAGIC Fashion Trade Show, in Las Vegas. The event was a dazzling one with fashionistas, designers, retailers, and all kinds of industry professionals. They all came to show off their latest collections, meet potential buyers, brands, and manufacturers, and have some serious fun!
Imagine stepping into a wonderland of fashion where you can find the latest trends in apparel, home, footwear, and accessories for both men and women. That was what MAGIC was all about! The event had the brightest colors, the boldest prints, and the most fabulous trends that would definitely make any fashion enthusiast go gaga!
Before I tell you about our team’s experience at MAGIC, let me tell you a bit about the trade show itself. The MAGIC Fashion Trade Show is a bi-annual event that takes place in Las Vegas, Nevada, and is one of the most prominent fashion trade shows in the world. Informa Markets organized the event and they help bring together the entire fashion industry under one roof.
The trade show features several different sub-events that one can explore, each catering to different segments of the fashion industry like MAGIC Men's, PROJECT, WWDMAGIC, POOLTRADESHOW, and SOURCING AT MAGIC. Here, one can discover emerging fashion brands and designers, high-end fashion labels, and textile and apparel manufacturers from around the world. But it's not just about the exhibitors! The event has fashion shows, installations, experiential stalls, seminars, workshops, and a lot more, and one can truly experience fashion at its best!
Moving on to our experience at MAGIC, it was truly breathtaking. Our founder, Ms. Shweta Agrawal, and our Sales Head, Mr. Sandeep Verma attended the event. They witnessed the stalls put up by various exhibitors from around the world like China, Vietnam, Bangladesh, and India. They not only got to see the apparel & accessories that the countries had to offer but also learnt so much about the business side of the fashion industry, from marketing and branding to supply chain management and sustainability.
They also connected with like-minded individuals who shared a passion for fashion. From fellow attendees to exhibitors and vendors, everyone was so friendly and welcoming, and it definitely helped in making some valuable connections that we hope to maintain for years to come. They got to discuss with them the future of this industry, sourcing low MOQs, the stand of Indian manufacturers in the industry, and a lot more.
MAGIC was a great event for large-scale manufacturers and buyers. But for a company like ours which particularly specializes in helping small to medium-scale buyers, we felt that there were a lot of limitations. This is what our founder, Ms. Shweta Agarwal had to say about how MAGIC could be more accommodating for small-medium scale manufacturers and buyers.
“MAGIC was an amalgamation of buyers, brands, and manufacturers from all over the world. We met a lot of the participants and noticed that most of them were bigger established enterprises. It further got us thinking about the small manufacturers who have great products suitable for the US market but do not have the resources to come and participate in an event of this scale, especially when they are located overseas. We even met some smaller buyers who were looking at sourcing with lower MOQs, but they couldn’t find relevant manufacturers in such fairs. The only place they are able to meet such suppliers is online.”
Typically, small buyers' source from online platforms like AliExpress, DHGate, and Alibaba. But a lot of such businesses are looking to diversify sourcing outside of China. Tradyl is building such an option from India that acts as the bridge between small-medium scale manufacturers in India and buyers across the world.
Overall, attending MAGIC was an unforgettable experience that we will always cherish. It gave us a glimpse into the exciting world of fashion and allowed us to meet some of the most inspiring people in the industry. It is a must-attend event for anyone in the fashion industry looking to stay up to date with the latest trends, network with industry professionals, and discover new business opportunities!
